Our group is going to tell the story of Ti Moune’s journey to find Daniel in big city in the story line of Little Red Riding Hood. We found that the stories are very similar and we want to examine that the real life is crueler than the tales through our scenes. For example, a hunter saved little red riding hood but Ti Moune wasn’t saved by anyone. There are 4 main characters in the little red riding hood, so that there are also 4 characters in our scene.
Leo is going to act as PapaGe, who share the same characteristic as the big bad wolf in the Little Red Riding Hood. He forms a conflict with Ti Moune. He tries to stop Ti Moune’s dream and take away Daniel’s life. Ironically, although the story is coming out of the structure of the Little Red Riding Hood, but they don’t share the same ending. The goodness does not always wins and everybody has their desire. There isn’t a clear limit between good and bad but different perspective.
Cherrie is going to act Erzulie, who take the character of mother in the little red riding hood. She’s an important character that she’s going to give instructions and send the little red riding hood to the journey. She seems to send her daughter to her love, but she also seen Ti Moune as a toy in the perspective of love.
Eric is going to act as Daniel, who represents the role of Grandmother in the Little Red Riding Hood. Daniel is the character who supposes to give the main character a final shetler from the harm and he does so in the first period of time that Desiree comes to his house. However, we also decided to show the bad ending of The Peasant Girl in which Daniel fails to protect Desiree and even abandons her for pursuing his “true love”.
Olivia will act as Desiree, who is also the girl from Little Red Riding Hood, but this story is more about Desiree. She leaves home and starts a new but dangerous journey. In the play, she will wear an old red hood, because Desiree is poor, and red hood is a symbol of Red riding hood. Desiree will appear in all of the three scenes, at home, at journey, and at hotel. This will require us to show the change of scenes by changing the staging.
